The most distinctive feature is the 72 ribs placed at even intervals across the body. They are not decoration: they are a functional structure for controlling the flow of hot water, the distance from the paper filter, and the amount of bypass.
The 72 ribs on the body run continuously into 9 ribs at the base, so water drains smoothly to the last. Water does not sit, harshness and bitterness are less likely to appear, and the cup comes out clean and clear, drawing out the outline of the flavor.
